Hello and welcome back to Herbal Emporium ~ where we teach you from the ground up how to build your home apothecary and how to create your own concoctions and more.
This week I want to talk less about an herbal set up and more about skincare options. We make a lot of essential oil blends, body butters, and more and I want to go over why we may use certain oils over others and how you can pick oils to use in your own blends.
Using natural oils over synthetic materials on your skin is a much better option for your skin and overall health. Synthetic cosmetic ingredients are often made up of harsh chemicals that can be harmful to your body. These chemicals can cause irritation, inflammation, and even lead to more serious health issues. In addition to this, many synthetic ingredients are not biodegradable and can harm the environment.
On the other hand, natural oils are derived from plants and are free of harmful chemicals. They are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that provide numerous benefits for your skin and hair. Natural oils are gentle on the skin and can help improve skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and even help prevent acne.
In addition, natural oils are versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes such as moisturizing, cleansing, and even as a makeup remover. They are also eco-friendly and sustainable, making them a great choice for those who are conscious about their impact on the environment. Overall, opting for natural oils over synthetic materials is a smart choice for your skin, health, and the environment.
Let’s talk about some of the major ones that I use and prefer in my formulations.

Additionally, coconut oil can help to prevent bacterial and fungal infections that can cause dandruff, acne, and other skin issues.
Promote healthy aging: this oil contains antioxidants that protect against free radicals that can damage the skin and hair, causing premature aging.
