We’re now in 2023 and it is going to be the absolute best year I have had — especially with all of you at my side! When March rolls around we will start having some downloads available with quick access to information on herbs. As my education deepens we will have better and more in depth detail on each herb and all articles afterwards.
The end of this month I will be attending a local trade show to showcase my knowledge and sell some basic things I have made so I can help my local community and do some teaching here. Now more than ever, taking care of yourself is the most important skill you can ever have! Health is 100% wealth and you can’t buy it.

I wanted start this publication to share what I learn as I go along in my certifications in herbalism to help teach others what they can do to stay healthy. I currently have my first certification under my belt and I am saving up to go to a dedicated herbal school in order to become a well rounded community herbalist and keep my education train rolling. I do still plan on returning to college to complete my degree in physical therapy and my ultimate goal is to open my own doors and have a complete holistic practice and teach everyone from every walk of life.

Welcome back to Basic Herbs 101. This week we are tackling our fourth herb, peppermint. Everyone knows peppermint as a flavor in toothpaste, candy, breath mints, and other items we buy on a regular basis, but do they know they can grow it at home? That they can use it in tea? Or even a bath?

I love using peppermint in tea blends or baths. There are great recipes for usage for when you may feel specific symptoms, which we will get to later in this post.
We know that peppermint is a great tool for all around health purposes, but what else can it be used for besides toothpaste? All that and more in today’s post dedicated to minty fresh peppermint.

Growing indoors:
a great plant for indoor container plants
this plant typically spreads through its roots so container planting is best if you don’t want mint everywhere on everything
a well draining container that has a bottom or root watering system is typically best to keep the plant healthy.
a large pot works best if you’d like a decently growing plant
to grow a new plant, take a cutting from another mint plant as they do best like this instead of planting seeds.
cut a stem off 5-6 inches below a node and remove all leaves two inches above the node.
place the stem into some water so it can develop new roots. Once it has roots a few inches long, it is ready to be transplanted.
if you have more than one in the same pot, plant them about 10 inches apart.
these only need partial light so indoor is a great place to grow peppermint.
average indoor temps of 65-70 is perfect for this plant
be sure to rotate the plant to prevent it from growing and bending towards the light
ensure the soil stays moist but not waterlogged.
trim as needed and before flowering to keep the leaves coming back again and again.
